Target Defined
Loosely, the objective of a computer command or operation. Examples are a computer that is to run a program translated for its use, a "foreign" language (for another computer) into which a program is to be translated, or a group of people for whom a particular product is designed. In MS-DOS usage, the target is often the disk referred to by prompts in a copy operation (for example, "insert target diskette"). In terms of the SCSI (small computer system interface) connection, the target is the device that receives commands. See also SCSI, target computer, target disk, target language.
